Richard and I were in grade school together, but we didn't see each other much once we got to Prospect. However, he once said some kind words to me at a time when I was really down. I have always remembered that act of kindness. After high school we never saw each other until I found him totally by coincidence many years later when he was in the hospital. We visited a few times, reminiscing about PHS. We ate hamburgers, fries and milkshakes when he was tired of hospital food. I lost track of him again after he was discharged and only learned he had passed on through this site. He may be gone but the memory of his kindness remains.

Rick passed away three and a half years ago. At age 27, he was the victim of a drunk driver. Though he spent the second half of his life as a paraplegic in a wheel chair, he remained firecely independent. Rick had a  sarcastic wit and a great heart. He loved camping and the outdoors. At his memorial service, his nieces and nephews roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in the fireplace of the church hall - a unique tribute to a unique man.
